National Mining Competition

November 2, 2014

Teams from various schools across Canada and internationally from the United States, Germany, England and India participated in a series of challenges designed to test and assess the students' conflict resolution skills.

The first task was a 'Crisis Challenge,' requiring each group to report an unexpected crisis through media to the general public, workers and shareholders. Following the crisis challenge was the completion of the '24-Hour Case’, which asked groups to devise sensible solutions to real corporate challenges faced in today’s mining sector. All solutions were later presented to judges, from the mining industry. Sleepless nights and team dynamics ensued. The last night ended with a gala where students and industry professionals networked and listen to a panel of four CEO’s discussing the mining industry at large, current projects and tips for succeeding in industry.
