President – Anjali Jarvis

​

Anjali Jarvis (she/her) is the Chair of the Women in Mining Student Chapter at the University of Toronto, where she is a dedicated fifth-year geology specialist. With a strong passion for structural geology and plate tectonics, Anjali is eager to inspire and uplift her fellow female students in the geosciences. Through her leadership, she aims to foster an inclusive environment that encourages diversity, equity, and a sense of belonging within the field. Anjali is committed to creating opportunities that empower her peers to carve out their own paths in this traditionally male-dominated industry. With her enthusiasm for learning and advocacy, she aspires to make a lasting, positive impact on the female student body, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued in the geosciences community.

Vice President – Eva Yu

​

​Eva is the vice-chair for the Women in Mining UofT chapter this year and is currently pursuing a specialist in geology and a minor in chemistry. She is passionate about geochemistry, mineral exploration, and mine sustainability and remediation. Through WIM UofT, she advocates for a more inclusive and accessible industry in the geosciences.

Treasurer – Calise Moldawa

​

​Calise is a fourth year undergraduate student pursuing the Geophysics Specliast program with a Physics Major. She is interested in computational seismology, geophysical methods for mineral, environmental and renewable energy exploration. Calise is taking on the Treasurer position for WIM this year, and is excited to both learn more, spread appreciation, and make valuable connections in the mining industry!

Secretary – Frannie Favot

​

Frannie Favot is this year's secretary for the Women in Mining U of T chapter. She is a fourth-year undergraduate student studying environmental geoscience, who has a love for the outdoors. She is interested in environmentalism and sustainable practices in the geoscience field, including the mining sector.

Industry Liaison – Zoë Kang

​​

Zoë Kang is a fourth year pursuing a double major in Earth & Environmental Systems and Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, with a minor in Classics! She is interested in incorporating sustainability and conservation practices in urban settings. She is very excited to be working with the wonderful WIM team this year as Industry Liaison!​

Event Coordinator – Sarah Neal

​

​Sarah is a second-year student pursuing a Geology Specialist and a minor in GIS. She is passionate about hydrogeology and promoting sustainable practices in the mining industry. As event coordinator for WIM, Sarah aims to increase diversity in the geosciences by introducing more students to the field and showcasing the wide array of career opportunities it offers.

Mineral Engineering Representative – Nastaran Noroozifar

As the Mining Representative for Women in Mining, Nas is passionate about empowering voices and supporting her peers by advocating for their concerns and championing opportunities for growth and collaboration. ​

Communications Representative – Megan Arruda

​

Megan is currently a fourth year Cell Biology and Geoscience double major at UofT. In the future, she hopes to become a high school science teacher and encourage other young women to pursue a career in STEM. In her spare time she enjoys baking and reading.

Earth Science Representative – Giselle Parsod​

​​

Inspired by a lifelong curiosity about our planet, Giselle majors in geoscience and Earth and environmental systems. After her degree, she hopes to apply her knowledge in a way that protects the environment as we shift away from fossil fuels toward renewable energy. In her spare time, Giselle likes to read and travel to new places – especially where she might find a volcano!​​

Rotman Commerce Representative – Caroline Bissonette

​

Caroline Bissonette is the Rotman Commerce Rep. of the Women In Mining Chapter at the University of Toronto. She is in her second year of study in Rotman Commerce specializing in Finance and Economics with a minor in Geoscience. Caroline is interested in macroeconomics, geology, and promoting sustainability, equity, and and responsibility in mining.

Website Coordinator – Karli Stevenson

Karli Stevenson is a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto in the Geophysics Specialist program. She is interested in geophysical methods for mineral exploration. She is passionate about science and using geophysics to better understand the world. She hopes to provide an inclusive and accessible platform as WIM's website coordinator.

Faculty Advisor – Melissa Anderson

​

Melissa Anderson is an assistant professor of economic geology at the University of Toronto. Her work focuses on understanding how geodynamic processes in subduction zones control upper crustal permeability and the formation of long-lived magmatic-hydrothermal systems. She is passionate about mentoring students as they explore career paths in exploration, mining, and related industries, with an emphasis on addressing challenges facing women and minorities in these fields.
